Ian MacLeod

Ian is currently Director of Planning and Infrastructure for the Joint Planning Service at Malvern and Wychavon District Councils. He successfully led the team preparing the South Worcestershire Development Plan Review (adopted March 2026). The Plan will involve the delivery of over 25,000 homes by 2030 and over 300 hectares of employment land, including the significant development at Wychavon Town (10,000 homes).

Prior to joining Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils Ian worked for the UK’s largest planning authority, Birmingham City Council, for 21 years, including 5 years as Chief Planning Officer at Director level. Ian led work on some of the City's main planning and regeneration projects including setting the planning framework for the City through The Birmingham Development Plan (adopted in 2017) and Our Future City Plan (Central Birmingham Masterplan) launched in January 2021.
