Robbie leads Pinsent Masons’ infrastructure planning and government affairs business. He focuses on UK infrastructure and economic development policies, programmes and major projects and advises on policy formulation, parliamentary issues including enabling legislation, major project consenting and delivery. He specialises in a wide range of planning, highways, environmental and other aspects of public and administrative law.
Robbie has over 35 years' experience of advising on the planning and consenting of a wide variety of UK nationally significant and other major infrastructure projects under a variety of consenting regimes, including development consent orders made under the Planning Act 2008 for Nationally Significant Infrastructure Projects.
He has an in-depth understanding of local transport bodies and powers, combined authorities and development corporations. He recently advised on the proposed establishment of an East Midlands Development Corporation, which included the development of a proposal for a new type of development corporation – the Locally-Led Urban Development Corporation - which has now been passed into law as part of the Levelling-up and Regeneration Act 2023.
